If you know anything about SPORTS can you please help me out!?
One of the best examples of this would be on golf clubs. Everyday, people spend around $1,000 on a set of clubs because the name brand makes it seem worth it. The brand name company will spend millions promoting their product, and give contracts to professionals guaranteeing $30,000 if the pro wins with their club. A PGA tour player signs a contract with a company, wins, and makes the average golfer at home think, "If I had those clubs, I could hit shots like him!" All the while, the spectator doesn't realize that he's paying for nothing but the name. He or She can purchase "clone" clubs instead, which are made from the same manufacturers, just without the marketing prices. You can buy a full set of Callaway Diablo clubs for around $1150, or buy a set of Diamond Tour Golf Evil Eye clubs for around $300. Other than a few minor color/design differences, they are the same club.
