Diablo 2 help....please!?

i was told if i went onto blizzard.com i could register my cd key and install diablo 2 for free? i havnt found anywhere except having to enter my account and password and cd key.. i dont have an account so how do i install diablo 2 i am after the install disc as i have lost mine but have everything else..
