Need help with beating monster diablo on ff8!!?

Ok, i know this is an old game but i bought it in the psn store classics so i figure i might as well play. but diablo is only an opional thing but he looks cool so i want him. At first i got the magical lamp, he killed me fast, so i did a few missions an now im like 10 lvls more then when i first got it an he still kills me. People on hear say its faster if you can draw demi out of him but i cant do that. Everytime it says draw failed. so if you can please help me out.
